Lisa Jackson Dissed by Good Ole' Boys
As just an "Auxiliary" to the Good Ole' Boys (GOB) Club of politicians in government, Lisa Jackson was dissed. She was called onto the Oval carpet by one of the GOBs and told that her position to ratchet up the ozone rule and tighten national standards for smog would hurt the Club members and their 1% money. Evidently, most of these guys don't live in California where breathing has become a sin to anything that lives.
Too bad we were not all flies on the wall to watch as one of the highest level Club members (Barack Obama) asks one of the auxiliaries to subordinate herself for the good of the other Club members. It was reported in the New York Times that she could reconsider clean air concerns again in 2013 if and when Obama were relected -- after all -- he needs the money and votes from the members of the various Clubs.
Of course, environmentalists are infuriated, but that's not good enough. The entire country is infuriated if no one has noticed -- the Occupy movement is an indication of how fed up Americans are with the current policies and practices of greed and corruption by the 1% that impact on the 99%. The GOBs are trying to stop the Occupy movement so that they can get on with business as usual. Move them out, tear them down, and shut them up. But, that is not how it works. When force is used on the peaceful protesters fighting for their rights, the anger grows stronger. Two Occupy EPA groups marched against Lisa Jackson from Freedom Plaza in Washington DC, two blocks from her boss at the White House, to protest her acquiescense and failure to resign in the face of her public flogging on the environment by the President. They chanted "Hey Hey, Ho, Ho, Lisa Jackson Must Go," and "Here, Here, We Need Clean Air." Former New Jersey Governor Christie Whitman stepped down as Administrator of EPA when she was told by the Busch administration to stand back. It's just a question of time and timing.
The President made promises to this country to change the way business is conducted. Instead of change, Americans didn't even get more of the same, they got much worse. The banks got the money and Americans got screwed. The billions of dollars squandered did not stop because the thieves were out in full force and their greed has no bounds. Are the President's advisors out of it, similar to President Carter's, does he just think like an attorney and act like one too, or does he know what he's doing, but doesn't care. Is this an effective attempt by both failed parties to run Americans into the ground? Can you imagine advisers who allow a country western musical extravaganza to take place in the White House as if a party is going on while the 99% are at their lowest point? Can you imagine advisers allowing the First Lady to attend and be booed at a Nascar event? Can you imagine advisers allowing the President to collect all that money from big business to run for office again, while allowing protesting American citizens to be tazed, sprayed, beaten and hauled off?
The Occupy movement in this country brings back meories of the 1976 movie Network. The satire is about a fictional TV network's struggle with poor ratings and the anchor's actions after receiving the news that he had two more weeks on air because of his declining ratings. He (Beale) galvanizes the nation with his rant, "I'm as mad as hell, and I'm not going to take this anymore!" and persuades Americans to shout out of their windows, "We're as mad as hell, and we're not going to take this anymore." I believe this should be the mantra (capable of creating transformation) of the Occupy movement - "We are mad as hell and we're just not going to take this anymore."
